The 2014 vintage comes at the end of one of the most troubled summers in living memory, climatically speaking. Fortunately, the height of our vineyards and the windy position mitigated the problems due to excessive moisture. The yield was good, now it is time to work well to get the best out of the input material. From a certain point of view, this unusual vintage may also be the opportunity to experiment with new solutions, such as the vinification of Pinot Noir in white to make it – who knows – a great “spumante”? The basics are all there …
Here’s the newborn Casè “Tre Vie”! It is the still version of CasèRosso: in this case, the refermentation does not take place in the bottle, the wine remains still, featuring a smoother taste with scents of red fruits.
Why “Tre Vie” (“Three Roads”)? It was the Roman name of the nearby village of Travo (“Trivia”), referring probably to the crossing of the road going from Piacenza to the Ligurian sea with the road from Pavia to Tuscany.
The name can also remind the three ways of making this traditional wine from Bonarda and Barbera grapes: sparkling, semi-sparkling, and still.
Summertime is always a good time to visit Casè. Besides good food and wine, you can enjoy a number of events from July to September. Here’s the program of the Festival of the Apennines.
